Before you start

Have the official Google logo image you want to evaluate open in a viewer that lets you zoom without smoothing, such as a browser tab displaying the SVG or a local image opened in a modern image tool. If you plan to compare versions, place the previous and 2025 marks side by side at the same width. This evaluation is local: opening or analyzing an image on your device does not require an online service. If your tool asks you to upload a file, remember that uploading is different from merely opening it, and check the tool's storage and privacy statements before sharing any file.

Step-by-step instructions

  • Open the official logo asset from a Google source you can verify, such as a Google press page or product page, rather than a third-party recreation. Look for the SVG or the largest available PNG.
  • Place the previous logo and the 2025 logo at identical heights. Do not judge color or weight while one version is scaled differently.
  • Compare the core wordmark first: letterforms, spacing, stroke contrast, and any changes to the angle or cut of the G.
  • Then compare the color sequence. Check whether the red, yellow, green, and blue positions, saturation, or brightness have shifted noticeably.
  • Zoom to 200–400 percent to inspect details such as curve endings, counters, and joins. Do not rely on a small preview for fine changes.
  • Scale both marks down to roughly 50 percent of their original width and view them at normal reading distance. Note whether the changes remain visible or disappear.
  • Switch between light and dark backgrounds if your viewer supports it. Check whether the wordmark gains or loses clarity against each background.
  • Document the differences you find, but avoid labeling them as intentional unless a source explicitly describes the reasoning.

Check the output

A useful comparison shows the same logo components at the same size and alignment. At 100 percent, letterforms should remain crisp if you are using the official SVG. At small sizes, some fine differences may become hard to see; that is expected and is not proof of a defect. If you export a comparison image, verify that both marks are still at the same scale and that the background did not introduce new colors. Remember that your ability to notice a change depends on display resolution, zoom level, and whether the browser or image editor is resampling the graphic.

Common problems and next steps

If the 2025 logo looks identical to the previous version, check that you are not comparing two copies of the same asset. Clear the browser cache or open the official source in a private window and confirm the file name or version where one is shown. If colors look different between applications, the viewer's color profile may be changing the appearance; open the same file in two different viewers without editing it to see whether the shift is consistent. If fine details blur at large zoom, use the vector asset instead of a resized PNG. For an objective visual test, export the comparison at the same pixel dimensions and inspect the result on the display where the logo will most often be seen.
