Amazon Logo Changes: Before-and-After Evaluation
A practical guide to reviewing an Amazon logo change with before-and-after comparison in the Logo Lab. Covers local file setup, slider checks, and output limits.
Before you start
You need two local image files: one showing the previous Amazon logo use and one showing the proposed or updated version. The Before/After comparison runs in your browser and does not require an upload service. Use PNG or SVG files when possible because these formats keep edges and small details easier to inspect.
Name the files so their order is clear, such as before.png and after.png. The tool does not determine which version is current, so you should know which side represents the older logo use before opening the comparison.
Step-by-step instructions
- Open the Before/After tool from the Logo Lab.
- Select the first image for the Before side, then select the second image for the After side.
- Use the slider handle to move the comparison boundary across the two images.
- Switch to light or dark canvas if the logo has separate background variants.
- Check the preview at a few slider positions, especially around the wordmark, icon, and spacing.
- Export a PNG preview if you need a static record of the evaluation.
The comparison is most useful when both images are aligned to roughly the same scale and crop. If the files have different proportions, fit each version to the same visible area or prepare cropped versions first.
This review does not include Amazon's official brand materials. Use only files that you have permission to evaluate, and treat the tool as a visual comparison rather than a source of brand approval.
Check the output
After the slider is working, confirm that the correct image remains on each side. Look for shifts in color, letter spacing, icon shape, and the relationship between the wordmark and any background. The exported preview should preserve the visible comparison but is not a replacement for inspecting the original files.
Keep the evaluation local and reversible. Save the original files separately, do not infer logo size or color values from an approximated preview, and re-export if the export appears blurry or cropped.
Common problems and next steps
If the images appear reversed, swap the Before and After inputs and rerun the preview. If the slider is difficult to position, use the keyboard arrows after selecting the handle. If one file is raster-based and the other is SVG, the raster side may look uneven at large preview sizes.
When the evaluation is complete, export the still preview and keep it with the source files. For a closer inspection of small details, open the originals separately at full size rather than relying only on the split view.
